Con-solation

The Vatican Gardens chime in their proof that some things never change.

This is for the wingnut (known here as Mr. Tiara-on-the-Desk) who crowed back in April that, "Whenever there is an audience with the Pope, on a nearby table, could be the Pope's Tiara, again reminding visiting bishops that he is the Pope, whom they have to obey."

Of course, this exhortation to obedience was conveniently placed aside by many when Archbishop Levada was named Prefect of the CDF, among other occasions.... But oh well.

Bottom line: No tiara on the desk, but it remains in the flowers. Then again, the landscapers will "get around" to changing it; that's the Italian way.
