"Sacrament"al Countdown

In a matter of minutes, the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis will be published, a three-hour embargo period having just been lifted.

According to early reports, the second major document of Benedict XVI's pontificate contains the papal stamp of encouragement for a wider and more expansive use of Latin in the liturgy, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and other revered practices of popular piety. Also said to be included are a reaffirmation on the prohibition of civilly divorced and remarried couples from the Eucharist, a note on politicians (albeit without a word on sanctions), a couple suggestions on liturgical art and architecture, and the liturgically-attuned Pope's commission of a "compendium" on worship in the church.

You'll have the fulltext when it drops. Stay tuned.
