With the eyes of the world on beautiful Vancouver and the Winter Olympics which begin tonight, one can't help but hope that digging out eventually becomes a medal sport....

After this week here in the East, see, we'd all be contenders.

Next week's an action-packed one -- the Irish bishops' two-day Vatican summit on abuse begins Monday, then Ash Wednesday and the kickoff to Lent... and, well, whatever else comes up.

Ergo, 'til the other side of the weekend, gang, enjoy the Games' start, and with the coming Olympic appointment on these shores topping the news-load over these coming weeks, for that and all the rest, as always, stay tuned.
